These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the NeighCheck mobile applications and related services (collectively the "Service") operated by NorseHorse ("we," "our," or "us"), an individual sole proprietorship based in Hoover, Alabama, USA. By downloading, installing, or using NeighCheck, you agree to these Terms.
1. Use of the Service
NeighCheck is a personal tip, shift, expense, and earnings tracking tool with optional community features for tipped and gig workers. You may use the Service to log shifts, track tips and wages, estimate taxes, log mileage and expenses, and participate in the community under an anonymous Mask. You must be at least 13 years old to use NeighCheck.
2. Accounts
Creating an account is optional. The core shift-tracking features work fully without one. An account is required for cloud sync, community features, and any feature that touches our servers. When creating an account you must provide a valid email address and verify it. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Notify us at support@neighcheck.com immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised.
3. Price & payments
NeighCheck is currently free on both the App Store and Google Play. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions today. If we introduce a paid tier in the future, we will tell you clearly in-app before any charge occurs, and we will not retroactively lock features that you previously used. Any paid offerings will be billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are subject to their respective terms.
4. Your data & content
You retain ownership of all the data you enter into NeighCheck — shifts, tips, job profiles, notes, expenses, and any community content posted under your Mask. We do not claim ownership of your data. By posting content publicly through community features, you grant NeighCheck a limited license to display, distribute, and serve that content as required to operate the Service.
See the Privacy Policy for how we handle that data.
5. Community conduct
NeighCheck's community features (Pastures forums, Wage Wire, Employer Intel, direct messages, Job Board) are built on anonymous Masks. You agree that you will not, in those spaces:
- Post content that is illegal, threatening, defamatory, fraudulent, or harassing.
- Publish another person's private information (real name, address, phone number, photos) without consent.
- Impersonate another worker, manager, business, or official entity.
- Post spam, scams, recruiting funnels, or unsolicited commercial content.
- Submit deliberately false wage data, employer reviews, or job listings.
- Attempt to deanonymize other users or correlate Masks to real identities.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
We may remove content, suspend Masks, or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We try to do this consistently and explain why when we can.
6. Acceptable use
You also agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers, other users' accounts, or other Masks.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or tamper with the application binaries.
- Use automated tools, scrapers, or bots to access the Service without our prior written permission.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, performance, or availability of the Service.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercialize any portion of the Service.
7. Third-party services
NeighCheck integrates with Apple Push Notification Service (iOS), Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android), the App Store, and Google Play. Your use of those services is also governed by their respective terms.
8. Tax estimates are not tax advice
The tax dashboard, savings jar, quarterly estimator, and any other tax-adjacent feature inside NeighCheck are informational tools intended to help you stay organized. They are not tax preparation services and they are not tax advice. They use simplified models of federal and state tax law that may not capture every aspect of your individual situation. For your actual tax filing, deductions, or audit response, consult a qualified tax professional.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
NeighCheck is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NorseHorse and its sole proprietor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, savings, business, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, while the app is free, is zero).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NorseHorse from any claim, demand, loss, or damage (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, your violation of someone else's rights, or any content you post in community features.
12. Account suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or for security or legal reasons. You may terminate your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account, or via /delete-account. Termination is permanent and removes your cloud data; provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and on this page. Continued use of NeighCheck after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Alabama, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
15. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and NorseHorse with respect to the Service, and supersede any prior agreements.
