Top questions

How do I log a shift?
On the Shifts tab, tap the floating + button. Pick the job, set the date and hours, enter cash tips and card tips, and save. Most shifts log in under ten seconds. Add section, mileage, tip-out, mood, and notes if you want the full picture.
Is NeighCheck really free?
Yes. Every feature is unlocked at no cost during the launch window. No ads, no upsells, no trial gate, no in-app purchases. If and when paid tiers arrive, you'll be told clearly before anything changes — and the features you have today will not be taken away from you.
Will my data sync across devices?
Yes. Sign in once on each device with the same NeighCheck account and your shifts, expenses, mileage, and tax setup follow you. Pull-to-refresh on Shifts, Calendar, or Mileage will force a sync. Sync is encrypted in transit.
I'm not getting my email verification code.
Check your spam folder first — provider filters sometimes route the first email there. If it still hasn't arrived after a few minutes, use the Resend code link on the verification screen. Codes expire after 30 minutes; if yours has, request a new one. Make sure the email address on the screen exactly matches what you signed up with.
How does the tax dashboard work?
NeighCheck applies real federal progressive tax brackets to your filing status and projected annual income, with state-level rates layered on top. After every shift the Savings Jar tells you what to set aside. The Quarterly Payments view estimates your 1040-ES amounts with due-date reminders. The Tip Reporting Tracker compares actual to reported tips. It is not tax advice — but you will show up to a CPA with everything already organized.
Is my data private?
Your shift data lives on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, it's transmitted over TLS and stored on our own servers — we don't share, sell, or send your data to advertisers or third-party analytics. Community features (Wage Wire, Pastures, Employer Intel, DMs) post under an anonymous Mask. Your real name is never tied to community activity. Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted on-device. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
I think my shifts didn't sync. What now?
Open Shifts and pull down to refresh. The status indicator at the top will report the most recent sync time. If it stays stuck, sign out and back in — your data is server-side, nothing is lost. If syncs continue to fail, email support@neighcheck.com with the device model and rough time the issue started, and we'll look at the server logs.
How do I export my data?
Settings → Export. You'll get a CSV of every shift and a PDF year-end summary suitable for a tax preparer.
How do I delete my account?
Use /delete-account from a browser, or in-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes your cloud data; locally stored data on your device is not affected until you uninstall.
Does NeighCheck work on Android?
Yes. NeighCheck is native on both platforms — SwiftUI on iOS, Jetpack Compose / Material 3 on Android. The same data model is shared, so you can switch platforms or use both without losing history.
What does NeighCheck NOT do?
It does not file taxes for you. It does not link to your bank account. It does not read your text messages, location, or contacts unless you opt in to specific features (shift auto-detect uses location; that's it). It is not a substitute for a CPA — but it will save you a frantic April.

Account & sign-in trouble

If you've forgotten your password, use Forgot password from the sign-in screen — you'll get a reset link by email. If your verification code expired, request a new one from the same screen. If you've changed email providers and lost access to the old address, email support@neighcheck.com from any address and include your old email so the account can be migrated.

Bug reports & feature requests

Send them. Solo dev, real inbox: support@neighcheck.com. The best bug reports include the device model, OS version, and roughly when the bug happened — that's enough to find the issue in the server logs. The best feature requests describe the problem, not the solution ("I keep losing track of cash tips when I close out three different sections" beats "add a section-aware sub-tip-pool field").

Still stuck?
